“Are you going to give him some money, Mom?” Jimmy asked as we left Wal-Mart and were passing a man collecting for the Salvation Army.
“Look at this baby book!” I grabbed Laura’s arm and pulled her over to the table with the baby book on display.
Laura, who was gazing at science curriculum, reluctantly allowed herself to be dragged away. We were at the FPEA Homeschool Convention in May, 2008 at the vendors’ hall.
“Look! It’s a baby book for Jesus! Is that not the cutest thing in the whole world?” I cooed, picking it up and flipping through the pages. “Look, it says “Before Jesus was born, he was creating the world!” and this page says, “Here are the gifts baby received…” And, here is a page about His parents, God and Mary.”
By now, Laura was interested. We scanned through the book several times, and, of course, I had to buy the unit study.
This week we are reprinting a great article by Cindy Short and Sue Welch, from The Teaching Home’s wonderful online newsletter.
Greetings,
As our culture is bombarded with the celebration of Halloween, we have an appropriate and compelling opportunity to teach our children what God says about the occult and its dangers.
I hope this message finds you all well. We have been studying American History in our Co-op this year. The children learned about what prompted our brave founders to come to the New World. They learned how our ancestors fought bravely and sacrificed much to break free from the tyranny which practically enslaved them. They learned about how our Founding Father’s crafted our government into the finest example of cooperation and freedom the world has seen in thousands of years.
Merry Christmas to all our dear friends – especially you! God bless you at Christmas and always
